Real-world experience across impact investing: Interns engage directly with deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, portfolio monitoring, and impact measurement—gaining practical skills used across the impact investing lifecycle.
Mentorship and professional development: Each intern is paired with experienced investment team mentor who provide regular feedback and structured goals. Training includes technical skills, sector knowledge, and professional communications.
Hands-on responsibility: Interns work on active client projects and contribute to deliverables that inform investment decisions and portfolio management. Assignments are designed so interns see how their work moves outcomes forward.
Exposure to interdisciplinary work: Avivar’s approach combines finance, social impact, and field-level insight. Interns collaborate with investment professionals, impact analysts, and external partners to understand both financial returns and social outcomes.
Strong support for career pathways: Avivar prioritizes helping interns build networks and resumes for future roles in impact investing, sustainable finance, nonprofit management, and public policy. Performance-based recommendations and introductions are provided.

What to expect day-to-day
Financial modeling and data analysis

Contribution to due diligence and investment memos

Summer program applications will open at the end of January.
Duration: Typically 10–12 weeks during summer. Avivar may offer flexible part-time opportunities during the academic year.
Compensation: Paid positions; academic credit may be available, if needed.

Location: Remote work opportunity, allowing you to contribute from anywhere. Must be US-based.
Who should apply
Graduate-level students who are actively pursuing a relevant degree who have:
Demonstrated experience in the field through coursework, research projects, internships, fieldwork, or employment.
Prior experience in data analysis, financial modeling, program evaluation, policy analysis, or related technical competencies that align with the role’s responsibilities.
Worked on multidisciplinary teams or collaborated across sectors (nonprofit, government, private) and can demonstrate adaptability and collaborative problem-solving.
Iinitiative, curiosity, and a record of taking responsibility for projects or outcomes.
